Brady's Toddler Days

Monday, August 02, 2004

Brady is learning to tell me what he wants more lately and as a result, doesn't get upset as much. Its a wonderful change and he is getting SO funny at the same time. His favorite phrases lately are "hey buddy" or "watch out buddy!" when he plays Dig Dug or Rally. He is also learning to pray before going to bed for the night. He really looks forward to it. After he brushes his teeth and changes to his pjs, Brady says, "Mommy, time to in the name of the father..." For some reason, he doesn't say, time to pray... very cute.

Brady is getting used to being away from home now.  He never wanted to be away from home before, but during the summer, he has been spending more time with the Buccatts and also Lolo and Lola Lim.  He is getting so attached to them that when its time to go home, he starts crying.  Brady loves being around his family.  This past month, he has started expressing how he misses daddy when he is at work, how he misses the Buccatts and Lolo(s) and Lola(s) when they are not around.

Brady is enjoying the summer. He has been playing with the Buccats and having a ton of fun. Its nice to see him playing with older kids because he learns a lot from them. Most of his friends are a little younger than him. I'm hoping by the end of the summer he will have sharing down. He still gets upset at times when he has to share his toys, but that's all part of being a toddler!

Brady had a busy week. We got a new dog, but decided she wasn't right for us and returned her to her foster parents. She was just extremely lazy. Just to get her to do her business, she had to be walked around the backyard or she would just lie on the grass. Brady was bawling when we gave her back. Partly, cuz he didn't see her go since he was taking his nap. Poor guy.

We also went to visit Colin on Wednesday. He is so cute! Brady loves playing with him. Its great to see how nice he is to Colin. At times selfish, but generally Brady just loves to talk to him and observe what he is doing. Yesterday we went to Mom and Dad (Lim)'s house. Brady was played soccer and watched mom make cake and leche flan. Sometimes I think Brady might become a chef when he grows up. He loves watching me cook and tries to help me all the time...

I began potty training Brady this week. But he only showed enthusiasm on the first night we started. I told him if he sat on the potty, that Gordon, (engine from Thomas the Tank and Friends) will call him. He got so excited and sat on his potty for half an hour. He wasn't able to go, but Gordon called him anyway to let him know that he was doing a great job. Thanks Uncle Francis ;) The next morning he tried his potty chair again, but he didn't last too long. He was just very cranky that morning. Thanks to Auntie Kristine for pretending to be Percy and James (other engines)!

Brady had a great time over the weekend. On Saturday night, we took care of Jingo, a dog that Joanne and Francis are fostering. Brady kept chasing Jingo around the dining table and Jingo kept running away from Brady. We are currently looking for a dog, since Brady loves them so much. On Sunday, we went on a little hike in Coyote Hills. This time Brady chased after the birds. He loves to see them fly away.

Yesterday we went to Bonfante Gardens for Mother's Day. Brady did not want to go on any rides, but he loved the sprinklers/water fountain area where kids can get wet. In the end, he could barely walk because his jeans were so heavy from the water. For dinner, the Lim family came over and Brady had lots of fun with cousin Colin. He loved following everything that Colin did. They crawled around the house together. It was really cute.

We went to CC's (Brady's cousin) first communion celebration today. Brady had so much fun playing catch with Calvin and playing with Brittney. Brady loves to play with Brittney and is always on the lookout for her at every party. This is the first time in a long time that Brady wanted to stay out. Usually he hates going out or if we do go out, he is always asking to return home within the hour.

Today Brady also finally realized how to use "I," "me" and "you" correctly.
